Dear Parents,
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and to
welcome you to the International Academy of Macomb.
In
case you are not aware, I am the new Principal of the IAM and my
name is Eric Sturm. I
have been with the International Academy of Oakland County as
the International Baccalaureate Coordinator for the past four
years and prior to that a Principal of an IB World School in
Ankara, Turkey. I am very
excited to come to the IAM as the new Principal!
The school is entering
its fifth year of operation and has experienced tremendous
success thanks to the hard work and diligence of its excellent
staff and students.
At the IAM, students have matriculated to some of the most
prestigious universities both in Michigan and elsewhere.
Their success is due in
large part to the student-focused curriculum and inquiry-based
instructional strategies that are mainstays at the IAM.
The International Academy
of Macomb’s mission statement to “cultivate a community of reflective, balanced, and principled thinkers
prepared to make a positive impact on our global society” is now
a reality as our graduates enter the world very well prepared to
make a difference. The
skills of analysis, communication and collaboration that they
have honed over the course of their study here will serve them
well as they navigate the complexities of the 21st
century.
I am honored and privileged to be the new Principal at the
International Academy of Macomb and I invite you as parents to
become our partners as we prepare our students for the future.
I am confident that with
a creative, forward-thinking staff and a community of students
and parents who clearly embody the qualities of the IB Learner
Profile, we can create a community where learning flourishes and
students become equipped to positively affect society and the
wider world.
Please contact me with any questions.
I invite you to stop by
and introduce yourselves as I would very much enjoy the
opportunity to meet you.
Best regards,
Eric Sturm
